Awakening is the simple but profound realization of the truth of our infinite, always present, unborn and blissful nature. It is waking up from a dream in which we imagined ourselves to be something that we are not; something separate from everything else. In this direct experience of the fundamental unity of being, we discover that the true source of abiding peace and happiness is our own Self. Awakening is not a particular experience, it is a realization of the field of consciousness in which all experience is happening, and the recognition that this is one’s own self. This realization may dawn in an instant, or gradually reveal itself as limiting self-identifications are released. While there may be very rare exceptions, awakening is not the end of all limiting identifications, beliefs, and behaviors – but a realization of the truth that is always present regardless of the degree that the mind and behaviors of an individual are transparent to this deeper truth.
