Seven-Day Retreats with Saleem
Next Seven-Day Retreat: TBA
A unique and powerful feature of these retreats is deep one-on-one work with everyone, addressing whatever is in the way of living a life of freedom and happiness. The opportunity to do deep work within the "Field" of an intimate and small group container is a sacred experience. This is true both for the person doing the work with the full support of the group, and for everyone witnessing the work of others as we participate in the "Field" that both supports and is informed by each person's unfolding. In this 7-day retreat we go on a journey together, both individually and collectively, guided by the profound wisdom of our heart, embodying more of our wholeness, heart and power.
Our time together will also include short periods of silent meditation at the start of our session time, short talks, guided inquiry, questions and dialogue. Some of the themes listed below will be discussed explicitly, but very often they are modeled and offered experientially through the unfolding of our spontaneous work and play together. There will be an abundance of support for everyone attending.
~ ~ ~
Many of us have been called to awaken to the true happiness of our natural condition, a pure, open awareness and Beingness that naturally includes every aspect of our life just as it is. When we discover pure Being, we realize our self beyond what is personal. For the impersonal truth of Being there is no one who is happy or sad, there is no one who is stressed or excited, there is no one wanting anything, needing anything or being anything. There is simply Being, being itself. As we explore the nature of Being which is itself beyond all experience, our very attention invites an awareness of subtle qualities of essence such as deep peace and unconditional happiness and love. These may be initially experienced as states that come and go, but can ultimately be realized as qualities of our own fundamental nature.
Many of us are also awakening to the deeper layers of unconsciousness and pain that have been safely sanctioned off in our physical and emotional bodies, awaiting their day to be fully seen, acknowledged and included. The capacity to embody and mirror awakened Being in healthy relationship to all of our emotions, needs and desires (and thus in our relationships) has been uncommon in our culture up to now. As a result most of us learned to show (and ultimately become identified with) only those aspects of our experience that supported us to feel safe or loved, eventually losing deep contact with our authentic experience and expression. If we are called to embodying wholeness, then rediscovering, honoring and reclaiming all of who we are in our emotional experience of being human is just as important and valuable as awakening to Being.
As we recognize, deepen into and learn to trust the ever-present ground of our being, we can fearlessly enter into the depths of our own interior. We can skillfully inquire, bringing the transformational light of clear awareness and full feeling attention to the hurts, losses, fears, judgments and beliefs that await their inclusion and transformation - enriching us with the wisdom and power that they are distortions of until their integration.
Themes of this retreat may include:
• Exploring the nature of unconditional happiness
• Consciously relating to unhappiness (subtle or gross) as a powerful teacher
• The irony, humor and liberating insight into how we use unhappiness in an attempt to be happy
• The art of uncovering resistance and opening into direct experience and clear seeing
• The very important distinction between suffering, or reactivity, and emotion
• Understanding mind, emotions, and desire as gateways for both deeper intimacy with our human experience and greater transparency to our essence
• Developing a healthy relationship with all aspects of our experience, especially with the emotions that we have previously resisted or overly identified with such as anger, fear, sadness, guilt and shame
* Learning to be attuned to our "emotional body"
• The joy of natural inquiry
• Including and transcending the polarities of mind and perception
• Understanding belief as a tool or "super power" rather than a commentary about "reality"
• Discovering true forgiveness (through skillfully facing un-forgiveness), true trust (through skillfully facing our fear and distrust), true authenticity and transparency (through skillfully facing our desire to cover and hide), and whatever else is in the way of unveiling any of the longed for qualities of our own Essence
Who this retreat is for:
• Anyone who is committed to the fresh and ongoing discovery of both infinite being and our authentic human condition and expression.
• Those who like to have fun learning and discovering, but who are also willing to bear the transformational fire of meeting whatever is in the way of fully realizing what truly matters to us.
• Those interested in realizing and embodying more of who they really are, and offering their best expression in every dimension of their life.
• Anyone who appreciates the quickening and deepening effect of meeting with others in a sacred context of mutual support.
• Those who recognize that the greatest contribution that they can make to their community, to humanity, and to the planet is an expression of realizing and living from their deepest truth.
• Teachers, guides, therapists, healers, and leaders who would like deeper contact with all of who they are, as greater capacity to serve others.
